Description: Fairly confined to the top half of South America this delightful little butterfly has several named races. The green and red patches are quite irridescent and shine in the sunlight.

Distribution: South American Region
Description: Upperside of male bright yellow-orange; forewing has red-orange bar and hindwing has red-orange outer margin. The female, much larger than the male, has two forms, one off-white and the other yellow-orange. Both have upperside of forewing with solid black cell spot and a submarginal row of broken black smudges.
